What you need to know before your trail

Anna is the  youngest of six children and every day and her siblings walk to the spring to  fetch water to their home in Jamaica

While her brothers and sisters carry it on their heads, Anna can’t. Well she’s only little and so has a smaller container to put the water in. And even with her little container she manages to spill the water all down her. She wants to be like her sisters and brothers and so asks one of them how she can carry the water  only to be told that it will happen when she gets the hang of it and she’s not to worry.

But Anna has her own ideas to make it happen sooner than that.

Travel Guide

Jamaica

In this colourful and cheery village in Jamaica, Anna faces sibling rivalry when as the youngest child can’t do what the older children can.

They have to carry water from the spring and take it home again. Children in many parts of the world have to do such a basic task each day as there is no running water but this is a very hard thing to do  for children. They have to walk a long way in the heat and the water is heavy to carry.

Not so easy when Anna passes animals on the way – and cows in particular when Anna is afraid of them!

The struggles in Jamaica might be carrying water and ensuring that everyone has enough to drink but on the plus side, the sense of community, the family who stay together no matter what and the importance of everyone playing their part for the good of each other.
