For Cassandra, an editor, books are easy. It’s the real life that’s the challenge. Right now Cassandra’s life seems far too heavy on the suspense, while the romance is distinctly unconvincing.
But that was before the murders started, and before she suspected her own name was on the hit list.
This story happens in that last overheated sinister summer, in a space of time beginning with the fires that in a day burned over five hundred houses and the police academy and the animal hospital and the great telescope at Mount Stromlo.
It ends with the announcement that our country was at war with Iraq 2003.
