Lola is a young Spanish girl in awe of her glamorous older sister. However, she discovers her own talent and duende, or spirit, through secret fandango lessons from her father. The text is infused with the rhythms, movements and sounds of the dance and the humanity of Lola s family is beautifully portrayed by Micha Archer s collage-paintings.

Seville and the Fandango
The earliest fandango melody is said to be within the “Libro de diferentes cifras de guitarra” from 1705. It was first used in a theatrical work – Francisco de Leefadeal’s entremés “El novio de la aldeana” staged in Seville, ca. 1720.
There is a great museum dedicated to the more well known Flamenco in the city and this is definately worth a visit to get the sense and feel the emotions of Spanish dancing
