2000s: Could you love, even like the man who is destroying your home?
Charlotte Pascoe is horrified to learn that her father is about the sell the family boatyard, where she works after moving back home from Holland, to a property developer.
Charlotte ends up agreeing to work with this developer, a Portuguese man by the name of Raphael da Silva. Against her better judgement, she starts to have feelings for him. How can she love a man who has taken away everything she has ever loved?
But there is more to this man that meets the eye
Fishing coves, boats bobbing on the water and secret coves to explore? It can only be Cornwall. There are many small towns and villages along the coast to see but those with Port in the name do give a good sense of what Port Tavis must be like.
Delighted to find Tavira is as nice as it sounds! There ‘s lots to see and do in this city even if you’re not visiting the family and country of a rather forward Portuguese man. The Old House for example is a novel tourist attraction and if that’s not old enough for you, the castle is just up the road. For the best way to reflect on events in the novel – the Gilão River is a top choice (sorry)
