Was this first man to explore the land they call Greenland?
This is said to be the account of the first successful polar expedition of Greenland which heralded a new era in exploration of these frozen lands. Some call the author Nansen, “A modern day viking” and this edition of his two journals merged into one volume might just go to show how accurate a description that is.
How does he cross the icy, treacherous snow plains of Greenland. What was his tip for travelling with dogs? What lengths did he have to resort to when trying to get to his destination and how did he manage day to day in such inhospitable landscapes?
Remember this was in the glory days of exploration but it seems as if this Viking of sorts could tell modern day travellers a thing or two.
