What you need to know before your trail

A corpse is found: its identity extinguished in the most shocking manner imaginable. Detective Ian Bradshaw can’t catch the killer if no one can ID the victim. Out there, somewhere, a missing young woman may hold the answers.

Meanwhile, journalist Helen Norton is about to uncover a massive criminal conspiracy. She just needs the final piece of the puzzle. Soon, she will learn the price of the truth.

At the same time, true-crime writer Tom Carney receives letters from a convicted murderer who insists he is innocent. His argument is persuasive – but psychopaths are often said to be charming…

There is a very dark thread weaving its way through these three cases?

Travel Guide

Howard’s Travel tip:

Behind Dead Eyes Is set in County Durham and Newcastle. Helen Norton meets an ageing journalist with information in the Crown Posada pub on the Quayside. If you’ve been past this one but now gone in then you should give it a go. It’s an amazing Victorian pub with stained glass window and wood panelling on the walls. Back in Durham, DS Bradshaw interviews a student who is lucky enough to live in the Castle opposite the famous cathedral, overlooking the green on top of the hill. I still go there whenever I can then take a walk along the banks of the River Wear down below.
