Christie Chapman has not got an easy life – she spends her days commuting to her secretarial job in London and looking after her teenage son, Finn. The only time she has to herself, she finds comfort in her love of crafting, and spends her spare time working on her beautiful creations. She starts to think she might be able to make something out of this career wise and handsome Max who has just come into her life, might also be a new start.
And then, all of sudden, her world is turned upside down. Christie knows that something has to give, but can she really give up her dreams and the chance of real love?
Christie takes the commuter train into London nearly every day but she doesn’t have time to explore the city and this is something she regrets:
“An hour of so later, by the good grace of London Midland Trains and the Northern Line, I’m outside The Shard. This is the tallest building in Europe and the slender pinnacle of glass stretches so high into the sky that I can’s set the top of its from inside my cab.
As I walk inside, the blinds rise automatically and I ‘m treated to the most amazing view across London. The room is glass on three sides and I can se the most amazing view across London. The room is glass of three sides and I can see the broad swathe of the Thanes, Tower Bridge and the Tower of London on the other bank. I’m ashamed to say that even though I live so close to London and travel in nearby every day, I don’t know it very well at all. This is an area of breathtaking beauty and it’s a shame that I won’t have time to explore it.”
One of the main things that makes her happy is crafting any spare time is dedicated to making cards and gifts to then sell – the level of crafting here is highly advanced – not just sticking paper stars onto cardboard with a glue stick! There is a real art to this level of crafting and the way she can make things with so little is inspirational. You may feel the need to run out to a local hobbycraft shop after reading this – or probably whilst reading it.
