The last thing fifteen-year-old Isla Bell expects to find in the gorgeous Northumberland countryside is what she does stumble across – Three bodies propped against Hadrian’s Wall. Shocked and stunned, the close knit community is horrified as everyone knows everyone here – the victims and the man who did it.
Twenty years later and Isla has dedicated her life to forensic psychology; studying the brains of serial killers, and even coming face to face with the convicted murderer who turned her world upside down. He’s behind bars so she can feel safe despite being so close to him.
But then another body appears against the Wall. And another. The Killer on the Wall is back…somehow

The historical Hadrian’s Wall is not the kind of place you’d expect to find a dead body – it’s historically a violent and wild place of course but now a popular tourist destination, it’s a serene place for walkers and visitors of all descriptions. The region has had its fair share of trauma and tempestuous history but this goes that step further. Such stunning landscape now has this large and deadly blot right in plain sight.
Briganton
Fictional of course (thank goodness) but somewhere close to Hadrian’s Wall. A childhood place to play and roam – a nice village – becomes a place of horror. Imagine a place you can wander for miles without seeing a soul only to come across three dead ones. Working as a forensic psychologist, she has experience as well as a background and links to the case to make this a very personal affair. Her father caught the killer when it happened the first time. He has been somewhat of a well known figure in the village ever since it happened.
The links to past and present in an area with so much turbulent history is a raw and rough scene for a crime thriller with bite. Imagine living in a small rural community where you know everyone and when one of your own is a serial killer….the tension, the fear and the heartrending images this creates makes for some horrifying and chilling possibilities. Briganton as is the rest of Northumberland is such a lovely place with a landscape full of fields and freedom. So when death comes a calling….
