There is a remote tropical lagoon on Thailand’s Koh Phangan Island which holds a deadly secret. Many people here say that the lagoon and the area around it is haunted. Ghosts soar through the trees. Dark spirits lurk below the water. Scary apparitions appear in the night. So they call it Dead Girl Beach.
The grape vine and rumours are so strong that the local police, order signs to be posted in the area to prevent people from going there. Most people do stay away, all accept Greta Langer.
Greta likes to hunt – unsuspecting bar hostesses working the bars on Sunrise Beach are her victims. This is no ghostly mirage but a real life monster…
Apt that the mysteries behind a fictional lagoon should be set here – it’s the very island where there is a secret beach! it’s even noted on the map as such so this could well be the lagoon or at least inspiration for it in the novel.
Dead Girl’s beach is thankfully fictional as with a nickname like that it’s just as well. You wouldn’t want to go there if that was the real case – Koh Phangan on the other hand, is, in reality, blessed with some of Thailand’s most spectacular beaches and a still unspoiled interior. It’s actually well known for relaxation and spa weekends away – so it’s quite the reverse from the island portrayed here!
