2000s: Priory or purgatory?
When literary reprobate Foster James wakes up in a strange country house, he assumes he’s been consigned to rehab (yet again) by his dwindling band of friends and growing collection of ex-wives.
But he soon realises there’s something a bit different about this place – surreal even, and when he gets punched in the face by Ernest Hemingway….well he wasn’t expecting that!
What on earth is going on? After an acrimonious group therapy session with writers such as Hunter S Thompson, Colette, William Burroughs, and Coleridge, plus a one-on-one session with Dorothy Parker, things are not about to get any more explicable.
Is this rehab, a trap or something all together more strange?
The setting is a country house but not one in the vein of Downtown Abbey or Jane Austen – more Agatha Christie where all the murders and deadly deeds are merging into one.
Where could you go to a country house like the one on the cover? No rehab involved just a lot of relaxation…
There is of course a very famous Priory which deals with issues of addiction and mental health but this is not on the map for obvious reasons
