What you need to know before your trail

Tim Parfitt took the risk of his life and blagged his way into a job at Condé Nast in London. That lead to a six week stint in Madrid to help launch Spanish Vogue.  Six weeks turned into nine years, and helping out turned into running the company. After work, he discovered a city and its people he never would have imagined existed.

Travel Guide

Madrid

Moving to any new place is tough but moving to a foreign country without any of the language nor of the job comes to think of it, is quite a risk. But it’s one of the best adventures you can ever have. Tim takes the leap, and takes little more than a sense of humour, and what he makes of his experiences is very funny indeed. Some early comments:

Plaza de Colon

“If you had a room overlooking the floodlit fountains of the Plaza de Colon itself, you’d be able to see the Christopher Columbus monument and several giant sculptures depicting his voyage and discoveries”

“If you had a room on the top floor you’d be able to see the chic shopping street, Calle de Serrano, beyond the frenetic main arteries of the city, the Paseos of Castellana and Recoletos”

Tim  soon moves into apartment on Calle Lope De Vega”

“Madrid immediately felt safe – open, generous and hospitable and I could already witness the dark, tantalizing beauty of the women sauntering by.”

The adventure of   Vogue Spain had begun.
