It’s Lucy Hall’s first summer in Paris, her new job as an investigative reporter is going well and life in the city of lights seems as bright as she’d hoped it would be. When her friend Nina comes to stay, the girls look forward to a wonderful summer. But Paris is a city of contrasts and Lucy is about to experience its dangerous side.
A story falls into Lucy’s lap and although it looks dangerous, Lucy can’t resist the chance to make her name. She meets the informant but leaves feeling that this could be bigger and a lot more dangerous than she realised. Then she finds her apartment ransacked and Nina missing…2000s:

Starting out in the Marais – an area popular for its busy winding alleyways, cobbled streets, nooks and crannies and shadows. There’s plenty of shadows in this part of the city in the novel but in real life, its’ the place for artists, food enthusiasts, history buffs and those who enjoy a nice stroll.
Canal Saint-Martin
A nice part of the city but those canals could be deadly depending on who you’re asked to meet with, and if you don’t know them….
Quai de Jemmapes
This is the long avenue which runs alongside the canal and the meeting takes place on the Rue Louis street bridge.
Rue des Rosiers
Along with Rue Vieille du Temple, these streets are where characters eat and drink at various cafes which trying to sort out what to do next.
