Various departure times: Sail on the Ten Ships that rocked the world
A ship can sail the oceans, transport goods from one side of the world to the other and even change the world. This is a book which blends adventure on the high seas with geography, history science and fascinating facts about how ships have played their part in world wars and other iconic events.
But excuse the pun, it’s not all plain sailing for the weather, the type of ship and the skill of the captain are just some of the things which can hinder the journey. Navigational advances, religion and power have also changed the way and reason for ships making journeys across the world.
With maps, powerful colour images and a great sense of adventure, this book puts you on board each one and through unchartered waters. Land Ahoy!
Ships don’t just transport people and goods. They have the power to change the world

Ok so this book is aimed at children and it would be a great book for a teacher to get her class interested in adventure and everything else but this is a really fun book for all ages really. It gets your attention straight away and makes each ship’s journey as exciting as the next one. I love books like this that explain things simply whilst being full of information and this one is definitely that. I’d heard of some of the ships but not all and it was fascinating to find out about the others. It really makes you think just what role ships have played in the past and still do and I would recommend this book to the curious whatever age you might be.
