2000s: Tiffany’s, New York – the promise of magic and sparkle is very tempting for many couples!
Tiffany’s New York is known for the iconic blue bags and the sparkle inside. And two years ago two couples were caught up quite literally in the magic of the store. Now, Rachel and Gary are heading for the altar, Ethan and Terri have not had it so easy.
Now Rachel and Gary are set to be married in Central Park’s stunning setting with frosting and magic for everyone. Well, that’s the dream isn’t it? Rachel wants that Tiffany diamond on her finger and her man by her side but Gary seems distracted. Ethan on the other hand is also distracted but for another reason. Ex -Terri will be at the wedding…
The magic of New York is like nothing else! From the magical and stunning setting of Central Park where the wedding is going to be held to the zoo where two of the characters go for a wander, the city comes to sparkling life!
At first the honking taxis and the bustling streets seem to get to Terri for as she tries to find the wedding dress shop, she’s reminded of the New York Stereotype and wonders why the streets are numbered instead of named! The magic soon takes over however. Following a trail of sorts to the Garment District, she heads off on the mysterious subway and then emerges in a whole new New York, more vibrant and colourful than that of the office block central.
When the Empire State building, the Central Park zoo and and the Met come into play, Terri’s New York adventure takes quite a different and interesting turn.
Rachel meanwhile, excited about the prospect of having a wedding in Central Park revisits many of her old haunts with Gary such as the Terrace restaurant before heading to the Boathouse which has been ‘transformed into a fantasy wonderland”

Melissa wraps New York up in a silver bow with sprinkles of glitter all over it! This is so much more than a romantic story however as it’s not all plain sailing and for a while you just don’t know what’s going to happen. The untangling of the two story threads is a lot of fun and even the less romantic readers out there will want to visit Central Park in the snow after this, if not for the ice skating!
Melissa’s stories here are short and there are a few others which showcase New York again in a new light. There’s even a story about Venice at the very end. But for me the magic was clear throughout and this was a lovely warm read. Yes Melissa life really should be full of sparkle – just like this book. What a lovely and perfect read in the run up to Christmas.
Now I have been to Tiffany’s but never felt the need to own anything from that store. This book makes me hope that one I day I might!
