2000s: Cycle your way through this French affair
The world of antiques is not like you see on the television. It;s something much more wheeling and dealing and inherited things, new discoveries, clicking china and the ping of a bell on the door.
The French House in the book is sadly fictional but was largely inspired by the antique centre in Newark, England and you can almost imagine Matthew and the girls having a nosy around here.
Well it has to be the Dordogne doesn’t it? The writing centre which inspired the author is set in the lovely region and the girls do love exploring this area which is not sup rising in the slightest!
The sky is blue, the grass is green and the trees stand out against it like children’s scribbles. The scent of the vineyards and the old French antiques..even the village is antique and vintage looking.
Author/Guide: Katie Fforde Destination: England, The Dordogne Departure Time: 2000s
