What you need to know before your trail

Four friends grow up in the (fictional) Cornish fishing village of Trevay, and life really does seem all mapped out. Jesse Behenna is apparently set to marry the beautiful Greer Clovelly and from thereby uniting two great Cornish families. And meanwhile, Loveday Carter is to live in Greer’s shadow and Mickey just has to love Jesse from afar

But youthful innocence has away of not being very innocent after all. Years later, innocence and youth get buried under the sands of time and it’s only with the shifting sand does anything start to come to the surface once again

Travel Guide

Trevay ( Fictional but based on Port Isaac)

According to an article we found in the Cornish Guardian – Trevay was based on Port Isaac. Port Isaac becomes Trevay with more than a little dash of the Fern Britton humour is a delightful place to be. But maybe not for her characters when their past catches up with them.

Still by reading this book you do get the sense of living in a small Cornish community and a small Cornish village like this one. Seeing the changes that time brings with it, how your friends change and move on and how life pans out.

Trevay is a lovely place -there’s a real sense of community there, a small village and community where everybody knows your name and where there are the ‘oldtimers’ of families and generations who are as much a part of the landscape as the moorland and cliffs. A perfect place to grow up and also to hide away. A nice place for a holiday and to relive memories, well at least happy ones. You’ll be angling to find out what happens just as much as you’ll be angling for fish which is a hobby and theme of the novel. As the title suggests, A good catch can have more than one meaning.

For your own ‘Good Catch’ try the fish dishes here, fresh from the sea
