Anna had never liked the idea of Mallorca, thinking it was all either drinking or partying. That was until her sister hired an au pair from a rural part of the island who said it was the most beautiful place on earth. On a visit, Anna impulsively decided to buy a ruined farmhouse.
However she has a fear of flying and a desire to keep her PR company in London afloat so with a foot in both camps, she is keen to see which lifestyle suits her best.
It’s a tale not just of two cities but two very different landscapes and life styles. Which place will suit Anna best? One life has the fast pace, the excitement and the promise of a great career but the second, well, gives her the chance to live life in the moment. There’s pros and cons for both however but Anna continues to fly between the two for some time. Deciding which one to settle in, taking the reader on the journey with her. Is there even a way of having both?
Two sides of life shown up in the contrast between them. Not all of paradise is as it seems and sometimes London seems more sane in parts. There are wonderful insights on life in both places – Mallorca especially with its fiestas, local traditions and customs as well as the daily way of life so you can taste it before you are tempted to follow Anna for real!
