A murder mystery, a story of passionate love and a political thriller,
Teacher Feng lives quietly in Tang Dynasty China, caring for his daughter Feier. However that quiet is shattered dramatically when his best friend is murdered. What’s more, local girls are being kidnapped.
Feng sets out to try and discover just what happened but the more he investigates, the more he seems to be getting involved with things linked to the very Empire itself.
The author’s vast knowledge of China has allowed him to give the reader a clear insight to Ancient China and its people. Such knowledge an insight makes for a thrilling read.
As the author states on his website, this novel is a fictitious account of lives in Tang Dynasty (7th-10th Century) China, but is a moral tale which can be applied to other issues such as the tensions between an ethnic minority (the Miao people) and the majority Han Chinese, who have a different language, culture, religion and belief system.
