What you need to know before your trail

Agatha Raisin’s detective agency has become so successful that she wants nothing more than a bit of a rest to be honest. But then it’s a case of be careful what you wish for as she has so much time on her hands that she starts to twist her thumbs. Enter a vicar from a nearby village and a rather handsome organiser called George who need help with a village fete and a jam tasting competition and Agatha’s life suddenly gets very busy!

When the jam turns out to be poisoned, and two people are found dead, then Agatha and her assistant Toni have to sort the bad fruit from the good.

Travel Guide

From Carsely to Comfrey Magna (both fictional), which according to Agatha is a rather secretive sort of village, odd with “no new houses to mar the straggling line of ancient cottages on either side of the road”. Full of last time buyers no less.

At first the cotswold fete sounds idyllic, with marquees, freshly cut grass and the group of grannies lolling about. But when the tent suddenly becomes popular with younger crowd, Agatha takes a special interest in what’s inside. Poisoned jam in a lovely place like this? Quiet and unassuming with a local farm known as Bassett’s Piggery but where two women living together are automatically thought to be lesbians.

Who would have though that jam could be so deadly?
