It’s based on Erna and Alfreda Anderson, who were two real passengers that traveled third class on the Titanic.
RMS Titanic, operated by the White Star Line sank in the North Atlantic Ocean in the early morning hours of April 15, 1912, after striking an iceberg during her maiden voyage from Southampton to New York City.
The name Titanic derives from the Titan of Greek mythology.
