What you need to know before your trail

Before beginning her new job as sous chef at one of Seattle’s finest restaurants, Josie Stewart takes on a six-month position cooking at a lodge in an Alaskan lake town. It’s only temporary–or so she thinks, as she becomes a valued part of the local community, falling in love with the people who call the Klutina Lake home.

But one man, in particular, stands out among the rest of Josie’s new friends: an intriguing swordsmith whose very existence forces her to question whether her heart wants to return to Washington at all.

Travel Guide

Alaska

Ponder where the lodge and lake house are located is sadly fictional but it is based very close to Fairbanks. Stay here and then you’ll have the perfect base from which to explore.

Northeast of Fairbanks and close to the Far North region of Alaska, Ponder has a population that swells to three hundred in-season when the lodge is in operation. In the wintertime, these numbers drop to a few hearty men and women, and only a handful of families.

There’s a fishing and hunting lodge which sounds nice. The Caribou Lake Lodge even sounds nice in name so there’s plenty to do when you’ve finished your moose meat. Two characters lie under the starts and watch “the beauty of the Northern Lights flash-dance green highlights across the sky.|

Booktrailer Review

Susan: @thebooktrailer

A lovely read over the cold winter period with a bit of romance to warm your heart. However this isn’t what I would call a Christmas novel. There’s the holiday feel and the cold outdoors though so it’s very close.

Debbie writes these novels well – the mixed up characters with problems of their own, a romantic issue or two, and the most gorgeous of settings.

Setting is also something Debbie does really well and this remote, cold community in Alaska is no exception. You will feel you are there and will really want to stay there yourself. It’s a lovely place to be! Lack of ferries, lack of contact with the outside world gives city girl Josie even more to think about.

A nice cosy read to curl up with!
