1930s: Want to follow in the footsteps of a Yorkshire vet?
James Herriot, a newly graduated vet, arrives at the home and also the veterinarian practice of Siegfried Farnon and brother Tristan.
It’s the 1930s and war is on the horizon but for now and certainly in this little pocket of Yorkshire, life is one stroll around the Yorkshire countryside. TAking time to stop a while and, well, smell not so much the roses but the cows. This is the funny and charming story of a new vet starting out and learning more than he probably would like to on the job. Life is full of ups and downs and it’ s not just the ondulating hills, it’s more the hours spent trying to birth a cow or looking after the sheep, and treating diseases on a farm. There’s tears too mind as you might expect such as when an animal is put to sleep.
Heriot considers his life as a country vet and considers just how much he’s learning on the job and just how much he loves the great outdoors and the animals in it. This could quite make you want to be a vet!
