The classic story of doomed love – Anna Karenina is unhappily married and has an affair with the dashing Count Vronsky. Their growing and developing relationship is all consuming and heartbreaking in equal measure as they spiral towards the most dramatic conclusion in literature.
It’s more than just story of a doomed love affair however for it speaks volumes about the role of women in society at the time and how society judged mainly the woman i.e Anna for an affair calling her fallen and the superiority of men.
Anna is caught in a man’s world and her spiral downwards and the consequences of her actions ripple all around.
