2000s: Amongst all the things you expect to see in the outback, your friend who died years before is not one of them!
Imagine you’re 29 and backpacking in the Australian outback when you see your friend who died when you were both 18. She is now married with a ten year old son and a baby on the way. You approach her but she claims to be someone else.
Back in England, you tell your boyfriend. He’s a journalist and although he’s never met her, he knows of her since she was the one who was waiting trial over the death of four people when she jumped off the Severn Bridge.
Both are keen to go back to find Daisy, but your boyfriend has ulterior motives.
A small fictional town in the Australian outback/in South Australia
“Any visitor to Craggy has an idea of what they expect from a small town in the outback, and Craggy Rock obliges with its dust, heat, stones and cold lager”
“Renmark , for its part, really is the relaxed settlement on the river that I’d hoped it would be.”
The earth in the town, and for miles around it, ranges from shady yellow to the deepest red. When a desert storm whips itself up, the dust gets everywhere. It comes in under the door and around the window panes…..
An interesting part of Australia to visit but what would you do if you saw a friend who you thought had died in the UK?
