2000s: When does the psychiatrist end up on the coach?
Karen is meant to be the one who fixes problems.
It’s her job, as a psychiatrist – and it’s always been her role as a friend.
But Jessica is different. She should be the patient, the one that Karen helps.
But she knows things about Karen. Her friends, her personal life. Things no patient should know.
And Karen is starting to wonder if she should have let her in . . .
The author lives in Shrewsbury and so to set a novel there has given her a great background on which to hang a very deeply disturbed image of friends who live there. Events are told from Karen’s point of view but also from her friends Eleanor, Bea and Jessica. It’s like sitting in a living room and listening in to some great and twisty conversations. Seeing events through many different eyes.
The plot and curveballs in this novel are as twisty and turny as the streets of Shrewbury which is apt really.
