2000s: Edinburgh, Glasgow, Aberdeen – Rebus style
A series of murders named the Bible John Murders terrorized the city of Glasgow in the 1960s. Now there appears to be a copy cat at work. Meanwhile in Edinburgh Rebus has been sidelined and shoved onto a case of murder involving an off duty oilman. The investigations take him to Aberdeen where the threads of murder and gangsters come very tightly bound.
The Case of the unsolved Bible John murders really did take place in Glasgow in the 1960s. Bible John is the nickname of a serial killer who is believed to have murdered three young women after meeting them at the Barrowland Ballroom in Glasgow during the 1960s. With a copy cat presuming to wander the streets of the modern day city, REbus comes face to face with history and reality. At first he is stuck with looking into the case of an oil worker who has been killed. His investigations take him to Aberdeen but this is where the Bible John Media circus has decamped as well.
Delving into the world of Aberdeen oil is as dark as the black stuff itself. And equally as sticky and deadly. The descriptions of the oil rigs themselves, and the whole industry build around them is revealing in more ways than one. Even a drive on one of the Shetland islands forms part of the course.
Three major cities and one dirty, oily secret that threatens to engulf them all.
