Sophie is haunted by the things she can’t remember – and visions from the past she will never forget.
One morning, she wakes to find that the little boy in her care is dead. She has no memory of what happened. And whatever the truth, her side of the story is no match for the evidence piled against her.
Her only hiding place is in a new identity. A new life, with a man she has met online.
But Sophie is not the only one keeping secrets . .
Working as an au-pair or nanny in Paris must be a dream on many a girl’s list. It’ a good way to live in the city and to learn French or even just to explore and get experience working with children.
Sophie wakes up and finds that the little boy she is supposed to be looking after him. His father works at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. This is a Paris life that is soon going to come crashing down around them all.
Sophie’s Paris is one of shadows and blackouts. She arrives in one street without knowing how she got there. Her memory lapses are coupled with mood swings and violent ones too.
She then goes on the run but where do you go to hide from what you think you might have done and what others think you’ve done? No clues as to where she goes next.
The streets of Paris are paved not just with cobblestones but with evil and murderous intent.
