Set in the city where the Moorish culture was at its peak, the muslim community are on edge, particularly as the mood at the time is centered o the rise of international terror and the US led invasion of Iraq. There is unrest in the city. Muslims built this city but are now the ones being treated as outsiders.
The Civil War is the main setting of this novel – and how Spain changed because of it – the creative fields were strengthened by the Generation of 27 – the poets, writers and artists who created a new Spain out of the mess.
Each chapter stars with short snippets of poetry by Federico Garcia Lorca -himself a member of Generation 27 . The title of the book is also a Garcia Lorca book where a groom kills his bride’s lover. A reflection of a scene in this book.
