Gaudi lived in Catalonia, a place of jagged mountain peaks and silvery olive trees, splashed by the sparkling sea. his landscape causes him to want to set in on paper, use it in his art such is the creative colours and the beauty of the natural landscape around him.

As he studies art, he also studies to become an architect so he can better appreciate the rules of form and structure. But it’s the natural world he prefers and so he starts to mix the two looking how leaves climb on vines, pillars look like animal feet and it depends on how you look at something as to how you see it.
