1930s: Just how much calamity in Kent can there be?
In the peaceful seaside town of Broadgate, the operator of the cliff railway locks the empty carriage one evening and all is quiet, with nothing out of the ordinary. However when he returns to work next morning, a dead body is locked inside. Jimmy London, a newspaper reporter, is first on the scene. He is quick on the trail for clues and starts working with Inspector Shelley of Scotland Yard, who is holidaying in the area. The two men don’t trust the local policeman, Inspector Beech, and so start to investigate the murder themselves. But they could be putting themselves in grave danger. Jimmy might want a great story but he could become part of the story himself!
Feel the magic of the old fashioned sea side and seaside town. This is fictional Broadgate or could it be Broadstairs? A popular seaside town with a lovely beach and bay area and just the place you could imagine a sea cliff railway being. The cliffs are primed for a railway down the cliffs to the beach.
John Tilsley, took a ride in it and now he’s dead, stabbed to death in a locked carriage no less. If you were afraid of these things before then this is not going to make them sound any nicer.
The seaside environment is evoked by the stripes in the deck chairs and the old fashioned feel of a British summer holiday town. Ice creams and candy floss, the taste of salt on your lips and a fun ride up and down the cliffs with amazing views of the beach and sea below.
