2000s: Nine receives a birthday present she didn’t want-her young son’s ear in a box.
Nines wakes up one morning expecting a birthday gift from her six-year-old son, but what she receives is his ear in a box tied up with a bow. Thus begins an anguishing search that shocks the entire country. It will soon be discovered that it is not the first death of a child in that family, and that the case is related to the painful and strange performance of six young people who attend a television program.
This event brings together four old friends – a forensic expert, a transvestite, a journalist and a computer genius. There is a case to investigate that takes them down some of the darkest paths they could ever imagine. The darkest recesses of the human soul is not somewhere you want to go and certainly not be trapped.
Madrid
Ooh this is a gruesome tour of Madrid. The locations work as a backdrop and some places are real and others not. The real ones such as the police station might not be exactly where they are in real life, but hey, you wouldn’t want to hang around some of the places this dark book takes you to anyway!
The Puerta de Alcalá, on the cover, is where the main character lives. Very nice you might think, but she really didn’t want what was inside that box!
There are a few other locations mentioned but Madrid is the star of the show.
