Cataract City – a dead-end border town overlooking Niagara Falls.
Owen Stuckey and Duncan Diggs are from different sides of the track but are bound together by youth and friendship.
United by wrestling, go-karts, and metal bands but torn apart by circumstances and poverty
Owen seems destined to get out of the city, while Duncan works the assembly line at the soulless biscuit factory, The Bisk.
The coils of the city creep ever tighter around the two friends and before long, they find themselves struggling not to break free, but simply to survive.
Set in Niagara Falls, or as it’s called here Cataract City, the writer with two names delves once again in to the visceral Canadian landscape and psyche.
Cataract City takes Niagara Falls, a small town renowned for the most stunning waterfall in the country and quite possibly the world given that it’s one of the seven wonders. The beauty is the backdrop, but the gritty reality is the people who are stuck in a small town and can’t escape their pasts
