2000s: The sixth in the China thrillers
His victims are young, beautiful and coldly mutilated. He calls himself the Beijing Ripper. Li Yan, head of Beijing’s serious crime squad, must stop him.
Just as pathologist Margaret Campbell finds an insight into the killer’s cruel signature, Li receives a letter from the killer, betraying his cruel intentions.
There’s no way Li can misinterpret the Ripper’s motives: he wants to tear Li and Campbell’s lives apart, and write the darkest chapter in Beijing’s history.
Jack the Ripper comes to Bejing. Bejing has not had many serial killers and certainly not to the gory extent that is happening now. A serial killer is preying on prostitutes in the city. This is a city where reputation and face are everything so a serial killer targeting the poorest and most destitute members of society hits hard.
JAck the Ripper of course was such an infamous case that it still creates headlines more than 100 years after the murders took place. Bejing does not want that level of infamy and Li Yan is at the forefront of the investigation.
