2000s: Quito is a city on the ledge
It might be a rather remote Andean capital, but on the very ledge of a volcano, an eruption is taking place.
It’s not the one you might think either – but a revolution of sorts by the workers against their banana plantation masters. Thy go on strike and if other workers in other countries follow suit, there is going to be a real disaster. If Ecuador, the largest banana exporter in the world and the bargain basement of the industry, raises its prices, so will the others.
Remarkably, the US government has chose a sports star to arbitrate the situation. Jay Streets, is an American pro-football star, and is called on to arbitrate and set a final wage for the workers. Having no interest in the matter, he is expected to be impartial . The US government have instructed the CIA to ensure that he gets the desired result.
Turns out an eruption might be the next thing to explode after all.
