2000s: A lovely cruise sounds like a great idea doesn’t it?
When Alexa Fisher finds herself trapped on a twelve-day cruise to celebrate her younger sister’s hen-do – just the two of them – she wishes she’d jumped overboard.
Despite the age difference, India has always been the judgemental sibling, and there’s been even more friction than usual since ‘the big engagement’. With India constantly obsessing over wedding plans, Alexa has never felt more single, or more of a failure.
If only she could find a man who was funny, handsome and faithful. But when she meets the enigmatic (and *gorgeous*) Gabriel Frost on the cruise, he is as cold as his name suggests… Isn’t he?
Set sail for an adventure on the high seas, it’s time for Alexa to discover that sometimes romance can surprise you!
This cruise has cocktails and dancing, one woman on her hen do and her sister hunting for her very own Mr Right!
Cruise life takes on a nice twist as there’s plenty of things to experience via the girls experience in the book. There’s enough food to ..er ..sink a ship and certainly enough alcohol. Every chapter starts with the name of cocktail and its ingredients so you can get your mind in the holiday mood as soon as you start reading.
Then there’s the social life of meeting others on board, sharing activities, meeting for dinner and walking around the deck seeing the whole world float by. If you’ve not been on a cruise, it’s a nice introduction to one!

A fun read about antics on board when two friends take a cruise. There’s sun and cruise activities so if you’ve not been on a cruise before you’ll experience some of it! Every chapter started with the name of a cocktail though so that sets the tone that there will be a great deal of drink involved. The cruise set sail from New York to England and apart from a few stops in New England doesn’t dock anywhere so it’s all focused on the onboard shenanigans. I love that word and it aptly describes the people here. I’m pleased the cruises I’ve been on have been different though!
It’s a nice and breezy read and there is a lot of escapism in it and the feeling that getting away from it all can prove to be great. And at least the men on board if you’re looking like Alexa aren’t going anywhere soon so for her there’s more chance of catching one. Plenty more fish in the sea comes to mind!
A fun light hearted read so happy sailing!
