Travel Guide

Picardie  – Pont Noir (Black Bridge)

“The smudge lay approximately to hundred metres from the road. Almost adjacent to it on the map, the road was flanked by two broad lines and chevrons indicating a cutting.

It was in the middle of nowhere, for God’s sake. Just a boring, straight, little-used piece of tarmac lost in a patchwork of fields made famous only by history.

He bent close. Faint lettering showed against the bridge”

Pont Noir (Black Bridge). This place is also fictional but Picardie is a region where many people do come and visit military graves so there are plenty to visit and pay your respects.

1963 was a year where many events of note took place and ones such as the Great Train Robbery and the assassination of JRK are neatly folded into the storyline.
