There’s murder, mystery and a delightful literary frisson throughout the film as we find out how Miss Haversham ended up wearing her wedding dress for eternity, how Oliver Twist first came to the attention of Fagin, how the old Curiosity shop became established and the secrets behind Honoria Barbary’s past, then this is the DVD for you. Glorious and just brilliantly clever in so many ways. The set brings to life the characters and the pea soup fog london was so well known for. Dickens almost walks the streets himself.
