Why a Booktrail?

1920s: A Cornish vintage murder with some fishy goings on in Falmouth

  • ISBN: 978-1783755660
  • Genre: Cosy crime, Mystery

What you need to know before your trail

Inspector George Bartlett and Constable Archibald Boase are working on their first case together and it looks set to be a strange one. For a girl has gone missing in Falmouth, on their patch and as they look for her, they’re horrified to discover that another girl has been found dead on a local beach.

The Pengelly family who live at Penvale Manor are unwittingly drawn in through their daughter’s involvement with the prime murder suspect. Oh and the strange goings on aboard the St Piran only add to the mystery that something fishy is going on in Falmouth.

Travel Guide

Falmouth

This is a delightful booktrail in and around Falmouth with many of the well known streets playing a small and very interesting part. The main setting in and around the harbour is evoked as the fishing village would have looked in the 1920s and indeed how it looks on the cover of the book itself.

“The small town of Falmouth, which nestles on the Cornish coasts and disappears into the English channel, was shrouded in a cloud of damp, clinging November fog, typical for the seaside town at this time of year”

A stroll around 1920s Falmouth is a wonderful way to discover this town and the essence of the book itself. There’s plenty of scenes in and around the harbour and Arwenack street where a new club opens. Even the Kimberely Park gets a mention and this is a nice little park inland to stroll around and visit one of the scenes too.

Falmouth is known for its maritime heritage and so the Maritime Museum has to be on your list in order to recreate the shipping links and the heritage of the town
