Why a Booktrail?
This is literally a booktrail seeing Cuba via the authors eyes and seeing it as she experienced it for herself

Cuba is a fascinating and unique country and the author gets down to the nitty gritty in this book by looking at the country through a looking glass. She reveals how the ordinary Cubans live and what they go through under the government of Castro and the atmosphere caused by the US Standoff.
There are lots of references not only to the landscape, politically and otherwise, but to the cultural makeup of the city – the Santeria ceremony in the remote south east of the island for example is one you can experience for yourself from the comfort of your own home.
You will also learn a lot with this book although it never reads like a history lesson so no need to fear that! – Hemingway and conquistadors are just two ‘flavours’ she adds to the mix to give a taste of what Cuba was like in the days before Castro and Che Guevara.
There is a map in the beginning of the book which gives a good introduction to the main location and settings. The main setting is Havana but we also see glimpses of
-Baracoa
-Guantanamo
-Ciego de Avila
-Camaguey
and Viñales in the west.
