This is a story of adventure and freedom. Moving to Spain without a word f Spanish, Ben curtis gets a job, parties hard, and full integrates himself into the life and language of the country. Then he meets a girl, buys a run-down flat in Lavapies, and gets in with the in-laws! If he can do it, couldn’t you?

Some Madrilenos say that lavapies is the last real barrio community in Madrid – Ben describes it as central, busy and lively
The Festival of Las Cruces is also referred to – this is the religious festival, rooted in the search by the Byzantine Empress Saint Helena for the cross on which Jesus died, but the festival and traditions connected to the festival today originate from more pagan traditions.
