Jack and Rachel fall head over heels in love, and it’s not long before Rachel becomes pregnant. Things start to speed away, out of control as their whirlwind romance gets faster still and everything starts to spin out of control
One day, Rachel clicks on an email on Jack’s ipad without him knowing. It’s a strange sounding email and she wishes she’s never looked at it. But now she has, she can’t forget it. Who it is from, what does it mean and why he has received it? She confronts Jack but he claims never to have received such an email.
It is then, all things start to go wrong….
Rachel works at a hospital in Newcastle. Ben works for the fictional magazine City Lights – probably on the Quayside.
There are a few sites mentioned in the book such as The Monument where She meets Jack on a cold night when she thinks how many times she’w walked through here when she’s been on her way to the floating boat night club on the tyne.
“It was less than landmark and more like a person”
Jack’s tiny Scottish hometown:
“It was almost misty in Oban. The boats in the harbour looked half formed; only their hulls were visible, their masts disappearing up into the white air.
This is where he plays rugby but she’s not met his friends yet despite having a baby with him.
