What you need to know before your trail

Eight years ago, Emma Montague left everything behind and moved to New York City. Life there was fast and furious but ultimately not as fulfilling as she’d hoped.

She searches for an escape and finds a tiny beach cottage to rent in the small town of Westport, Connecticut. It needs work but it’s the perfect project to satisfy Emma’s passion for interior design and gardening. A change for the house as well as for her.

That’s if the landlord agrees. When she meets him, she’s not expecting anything more than a friendly face. But there’s something else about him..

Emma might just be ready to dip her toes into another area of her life that has been neglected lately. But will her plans for a new start ever get off the ground?

Travel Guide

Emma Montague may once have lived in Somerset England but since a young age we are told, she has always had a fascination with America. Never feeling as if she fitted in, the one place she did find happiness in was within the pages of a book. and then:

She fell in love with America through the pages of these books. Her dull patrician life in Somerset felt very staid compared to the lives of Jo and her sisters in LittleWomen, and Katy in What Katy did series.”

Westport, where she settles in Connecticut is a world away from her life there and her fast pace finance world in New York.  It may not be Walton’s Mountain she says but in a way it is. It’s a world away from where she used to work and a chance to escape to a quieter life. Quieter life? Not in Westport! Her new landlord however only lives next door and works in the famous Fat Hen bar which has been on that American Diner reality show. He’s keen on her and her friends soon see how they would be good together.  The house she has just rented however is going to keep her busy. It’s in great need of repair, and more than one lick of paint. But this house, this town and quite possibly this man are just the new beginning she needs. New York and its glitzy financial world just sometimes doesn’t hit the spot. Rest and relaxation in a place you can really call home often beckons.

Booktrailer Review

Emma: @thebooktrailer

A cute fun read. Jane Green has made me want to move right now to Westport and to go on that gorgeous beach and meet my very own Dominic. Oh and that house!? Just too lovely for words. This is so the live I would love to have and I just enjoyed every moment of Emma’s (great name by the way, maybe this is my story in the future?) move to the new city and meeting new friends. There were so many funny moments (her mum in England giving her house a posh name) and learning to pronouce certain American words but this was a really sweet read that swept me along!
