This is a city visit you will never forget! The streets are dark and wet for most of the novel and drugs flood the city. This is the Glasgow controlled by the various gangs and the criminal underworld.
This is a very brutal and bleak picture of 1970s Glasgow where there was often a very fine line between the police and the criminals themselves. Violence stands on every street corner and will come find you…
It’s very possible to tour the sites of the novel (considerably nicer in real life!) and even visit the bars such as The Variety and St. Enoch Hotel which feature in the story. Beer is more expensive than in the 1970s however!
