Meet the Moomin Family!
Meet the Moomin Family!
In case you didn’t know, the Moomins are kind, loyal and welcoming creatures with smooth round snouts, who live in a tall blue house shaped like an old stove in a valley in the forests of Finland. They love sunshine and sleep right through the winter, when the snow turns their house into a great snowball. In spring they wake up, clamber down the rope ladders hanging from their windows ready for fresh new adventures.
And so this classic story begins, full of fun and excitement and the most unexpected happenings. Such as when Moomin and his friends Snufkin and Sniff find a Hobgoblin’s hat that casts a spell over the whole of Moominvalley…
Sadly fictional but clearly somewhere in Finland. The Moomins do like to live in Moomin Valley and not have humans visit so no where is really sure where Moomin Valley is. Moonmin World is the place you can go to that’s very close to the real thing (reliable information from a Moomin)
They are a family of white, round fairy tale characters with large snouts that make them look a bit like hippopotamuses. They live in their house in Moominvalley, though in the past, the’ve live in a few places such as a lighthouse and a theatre. They’re one of the most sociable and adventurous families around!
There are a few places where you can go to feel close to the Moomins – and you may even see one if you’re lucky. Although they are very shy around humans.
Moomin World is a theme park based on the Moomin books, located on the island of Kailo next to the old town of Naantali, in Southwest Finland.
There’s a series of cafes and shops, at airports and in towns and cities, so you can always eat and shop with things connected to Moomins.
