2000s: There’s no sign of a murder trail right up in Algonquin Bay
Four teenagers go missing in the small northern town of Algonquin Bay but there is no trace of them and no trail even giving a small clue as to where they might be. No one really knows what to do and are ready to give up, but Detective John Cardinal, a bit of a loner, tries to investigate but ends up getting himself removed from the homicide team.
When the mutilated body of thirteen-year-old Katie Pine is pulled out of an abandoned mineshaft, Cardinal realises that he was right and that more worryingly, the killer could still be in their midst. No one seems to be taking Cardinal seriously. No one knows of another young victim tied up in a basement wondering how and when he will die.
Dark, atmospheric in a remote and lonely spot right up in the north of Canada. Winter in Algonquin Bay is not your best friend. It is ruthless and chillingly cold and calculated. This freezing and brutal setting is the backdrop to a series of chilling disappearances and murders. Various strands of the Canadian law agencies are involved and there is a dark claustrophobic cloud hanging over each and every one of the people in that community.
Algonquin Bay is the town of North Bay, thinly disguised but the landscape and the area is immediately recognizable.
