2000s: A man disappears into the city of Paris and years later, his son goes looking for him…
Fifteen years ago, Alexander left his wife and young child to pursue the life of an artist in Paris. One day his son Felix, now a young man, comes to search for him and more importantly for answers.
On a journey through smoky jazz bars, artists’ studios and along the banks of the Seine, Felix meets the father he never knew, and in doing so, comes to question some lifelong assumptions.
The city of Paris is just as much a character in the novel as the characters themselves. This is the city after all which has attracted, effectively stolen Alexander from his family and taken him into its fold.
The city’s draw are a mix of the cafes, bars, jazz clubs and even churches . The various nooks and crannies
The church of Sacre-Coeur plays an important role in the story and places the actions and the emotions of the characters firmly in the city’s history
Be sure to sit in Place du Tertre as this is a major meeting place for artists and creative types to hang out
As for the jazz, well there are lots of bars and clubs to discover but if you’re in the city between June and July every year, then the big Paris Jazz festival takes place here.
