Faye seems to have it all. A grand house in a nice part of Stockholm, a rich husband who provides for everything, and a much wanted child. A gilded life. But this gilded life is also a cage. She is controlled, told what to do, how to act and how to live.
Until the day tragedy strikes and she is forced to survive on her own. Now she is free from her husband isn’t she?
What happens when the hunted becomes the huntress?
Stockholm is firmly at the centre of this novel. One character reinvents herself here and uses the city to suit her needs. There’s lots of bars and clubs to visit based on where the charcters visit. Not sure you will want to do everthing that they do in these places however. The Rigoletto Cinema also is the setting for one of the novel’s sex-fuelled scenes.
The more sedate side of the trail will take you to Karlaplan to walk along the long leafy avenue of Karlavagen, where Faye visits the coffee shops and of course the ICA supermarket for duck. Look into the windows here and wonder if there are other golden cages right in front of you.
Date night is held in Teatergrillen and be sure to visit the bars of Stureplan where the good times are had according to this sexy novel!
A jaunt over to Lidingo where two characters live and to the area of Blasieholem where Jack is lucky enough to have his offices. A nice place to work and play!
There are flashbacks to Fjallbacka but nothing to suggest or reveal locations. It’s a small town from where someone has escaped and is now trying to hide their past. It’s there in the background however. A nod to Camilla’s earlier novels too.
