Visit Sydney
Hades, like the Greek god of mythology, is the Lord of the Underworld. He lives in a junkyard in Sydney. You can imagine the state of where he lives, those who pay him a visit and those who never leave.
This book is set in the dark corners of Sydney from Camden to the city, via Kurrajong and Maroubra, but there are some areas of note that you really should visit, not in a Hades way though of course
Watsons Bay marina
East of the harbour and between the Navy base and the parkland. “The street was lined with rendered pastel-coloured apartment blocks, with the obligatory banana chair son the balconies…”
Blue Mountains
The investigation goes further out of the city along the Bowen Mountain Road, a main arterial to the nearest signs of civilization
Kurrajong
West of the Hawkesbury River on the lower slopes of the Blue Mountains. Keep your eyes peeled for the Kurrajong Hills and Kurrajong Heights in the area. It’s very popular with tourists as it’s very peaceful and natural.

Two police characters trying to track down a serial killer is never going to be a straight forward and ‘nice’ kind of novel, but this was a bit gruesome! Lots of body parts and graphic descriptions of the crimes taking place. It must have taken some planning – I always imagine how brilliant these people would be if they used the same level of what is a warped sense of ingenuity into something really good for the world?
Anyway I digress, I’d better stick to the facts, now that I’ve met Hades. Frank Bennett and Eden Archer are quite the partnership and Eden in particular has one heck of a backstory!
The landscape of Sydney and the surrounding towns was gripping to discover under such circumstances and I’m definitely on the list for reading book three!
