What you need to know before your trail

Sixteen years ago, rookie cop Tommy Bergmann was on the scene when a teenage girl’s mutilated body was discovered in the woods. Someone confessed to the murder, along with five others and sent to a mental institution outside of Oslo. The case appeared closed. That is, until now…

Amid a brutal Norwegian winter, now-detective Bergmann is called to the scene of the assault of a young Lithuanian prostitute. Her injuries bear a shocking resemblance to those of the other victims. How can this be happening again. Is it the same person or a copycat?

As he works to untangle the complex web of connections between the past and present, his closed case just might become a cold case—with a truth more chilling than he could have imagined.

Travel Guide

Oslo

A city covered in snow in the second installment of the Tommy Bergmann series. This is a damaged man – Tommy Bergmann now works as a cop but has a violent past when he used to beat his girlfriend (so domestic abuse is a theme of the novel)

The city is not a nice one judging by the places they visit here. Scene of the crime in a wood, in a small village where they have to go and break the news to a girl’s family….

Standing proudly in the city is the Kripo, the criminal police. They come across scenes where “the metallic smell of blood wafted out the open door”

And that’s not the worst of it – there is a LOT of blood and gore in this novel so squeamish readers beware.

And to top everything off, there are some very chilling scenes inside an asylum..
