Various times: A journey via a few short stories which makes a unique trail around Vancouver island and the surrounding area
A collection of seven outstanding stories, each set against the rural landscape of Vancouver Island and the cities of the Pacific Northwest
The life-lessons learned by the characters are often as complicated and painful as they are illuminating.
The landscape around Vancouver Island and the cities of the Pacific Northwest have a unique history and place in Canada and whilst one booktrailer was here, this was a good ‘guide’ and insight to seeing the various facets of a fascinating landscape not portrayed in traditional guidebooks.
It is the weather which rules this environment here – the woods, the wind on to the mainland, the fog which rises and falls. The people are like the weather – ever changing and unclear in their roles in life, uncomfortable and unpredictable. the waves seem to reflect the raw and desolate feeling of some of these people as their landscape batters them with its strength. Then the strength of the people to fight against the bitter cold all around…
The weather when nice and calm is stunning and showcases the region well. The waves are sometimes flowing like the prose and the rhythm of everything is undulating as the lives of these people are revealed.
